WOW! No posting since November! I am too horrible.
Thankfully, I have lots to share...

First off, I've been busy making lots of new papercuts for the shop!

I looove how the posters came out. They are pro-printed on really nice Epson paper and are a fantastic quality!I'm working on more papercuts and slowly starting to gel ideas for a show this year that I'm pretty damned excited about...Life has been going really great. I'm fully in the swing at work, and really loving my job. I have become the blogmaster for the shop, and will let you all know when that will go live! I've also been meeting some new kitty friends...

This is my friend, Cullen's cat, Dudley! Such a gentleman!! He looks and feels like a snowshoe rabbit.

I also got new glasses, and over the holidays, I got my septum pierced! I've been hemming and hawing over getting one for a year and a half. I finally did it and loooove it! It's all healed up and I don't even remember my face without it!

Finally, a german version of one of my favs, "Valerie and Her Week of Wonders". This one has a great interview with my beloved Trish Keenan.

This is also the time of year where I think of all the ways I want to improve myself-physically and spiritually. Time to quite that nasty smoking, get off my tushy and meet boys (I actually have a date tonight!), exercise, and meditate and be still with myself. Let's break all the habits that bind us!

We got the most amazing new sweetheart at work recently...

Seriously took my breath away!! For those who may not know, my three "Holy Grails" on my taxidermy wish list are a swan, barn owl, and raven. Unfortunately, her price tag is a wee bit out of my price range, but I love petting her head when I pass by, and staring lovingly into her eyes.

Another fantastic item in the shop was this tasseomancy cup and saucer set...

It was in my dearest Angel's booth, and she oh so kindly gifted it to me. Eeeee! Time to learn "the magical art of reading tea leaves"!

A friend of mine passed these on to me, and seriously made my day/made me laugh out loud...

Hello kittens!!

It's been a while, no? Well, I have a good reason for that: I got a job!! I am working fulltime at the amazing antiques emporium, Uncommon Objects. It has always been one of my most favorite shops in Austin, and now I work there! I will have to have fortitude not to spend all my pennies though ;)

I have picked up a couple of treasures, at the shop, regardless...let's have a lookie

Welcome my newest child, the dapper gentleman, Senor BooBoo! I just couldn't resist that fantastic wart hog (or is it a boar?) face of his. Now Biscuits has company!

I also had to have these amazing antique sympathy/funeral wreath stickers. What a fantastic font!!

I've been wanting an etched brass and glass box just like this! I have ideas for it too. Let's say a wee friend will be arriving to rest in this.

My upcoming book is almost completed as well. I have someone very special writing the forward for it, then it's off to the printers! I'm so so so very excited about it.

I will have a piece in Domy's annual group show, "Monster Show 666". My piece is titled, "Audrey Rose", and it's inspired by the 70's book/film of the same name. It's also the first time I've worked with overlaying papers.

I will have a piece in the Articulated Gallery's "Spirit Board" show, and have another very exciting development happening. All in due time sweeties!

Other than that, I'm still getting into the swing of Austin life, seeing great shows like The Horrors (photos from that in the next post), and hanging with these awesome peeps...

Well, I finally got off of my lazy caboose and started a Facebook page for Mon Petit Fantome! It will be the place (other than this here blog) to find out about new prints, originals, and all sort of suprise goodies and discounts. Stop by and "like" me here, if it strikes your facy!

This month has been a pretty exciting one for collaborations. I can't talk about two of them, just yet, but I can reveal, after much hinting, that I am working on another doll set with my dear friend, Amy Earles!! I have one more photoshoot to complete before finishing up work on my upcoming book, "And Then We Are The Darkness". A couple of quite exciting collaborations have popped up this week. I can definitely say, without tooting my own horn, that they will be super amazing!

Well hello there kittens!!

Oh my, I have so much to share with you all. It's funny how in a few weeks life can completely change (and yes, for the better)!

First of all...I am now a resident of Austin, TX!! I never thought this day would come, and am oh so happy it has. I share an adorable house with my best friend, Tracy and her boyfriend, Christian. I've had such a rough past year, with so many worries, that it is nice to live with people I love so much and are so supportive. Anyhoo, I've slowly begun to decorate a bit, and here's a peek...

As you can see lots of lace and a bit of a lighter touch than I'm used to which is nice. I'm definitely not done, and I'm sure things will get moved around, but I'm loving it so far.

With Eyes Like Quartz, Skin Like Glittered Snow...

Hello kittens!

I hope that all of you have lovely things planned for our extended holiday weekend coming up! I plan on devouring loads of snowcones and passing the days, swinging on my Nanny's old wooden tree swing. Lazy times my friends!

I don't feel one little bit guilty for enjoying a whole bunch of nothing, because I've been busy like you wouldn't believe! I can't wait to share all the exciting things that are happening behind the scenes...but not just yet ;) As a thank you for the great responce to my 15% off sale, I'm extending it until July 8th...

And since I'm so very close to 500 sales, my 500th customer will win a custom silhouette portrait! It's the least I can do for all of your support and love.

As I've mentioned before, I'm in the process of moving! I've begun to take treasures off of the walls, and gather goodies. I tend to let these things wait until the last minute, but not this time! This wee collection of prizes is a good indicator of what the color scheme of my new place will be. Lots of airy, light neutrals, with touches of black, brass, and wood. Soooo excited to decorate :)

Something else I'm pretty damned excited about is Ossian Brown's "Haunted Air"...

"Haunted Air" is a collection of antique Halloween/Trick 'r Treating photos that Mr. Brown has collected over the years. Wheeee! And who has written the introduction to this lovely book? David Lynch! Double Wheeee! Here is a short video, someone has made, that gives a sneaky peek inside the book.

The big news being that I'm currently working on a second, hardcover, book! It is titled, "And Then We Are The Darkness". It will have brand spanking new papercuts and feature some of my photographs. Very very very excited about this!

I took a wee break from purging and packing my belongings(a little over a month until Austin kittens!)to scoot down to my favorite thrifting shops...

I've kept a tight leash on my spending, due to moving expenses, but mainly I've rethought my purchasing habits and decided to make a change. Regardless, these goodies were soooo cheap! The hinged double brass frame and battery operated candle (I broke one while packing, so this is it's replacement)come from my fav thrifting spot. The antlers, small oval brass frame, and crescent moon necklace came from Etsy. I put an antique hair locket, from my friend Alison, into the brass frame and love it. I'm just obsessed with these brass frames, especially if the have cute hangers on top like this one.

I also found this paperback copy of "Picnic at Hanging Rock" at the thrift shop. A 1977 Penguin paperback for 15 cents people! Yay! One other goodie to arrive is the new copy of Lula! I'm really happy that the last couple of issues have toned down the super super sugary sweet content a bit. It definitely feels more balanced now. Although, Frankie will always be my favorite magazine :)

It's The Spindlings Of A Spirit, A Memory...

Happy Friday kittens!

Let's just jump right into it, shall we?

My Ghostly Lace totes are finally in the shop!

This is the first design with the others soon to follow. I had the folks at Westar Solutions to burn the screen for me. They are fantastic-quite friendly and fast! I haven't screenprinted in forever, so it was so much fun to lay out the newspaper, throw on some gloves, and get to work. Someone asked me recently what was my obsession with lace/doilies. Well, besides just their base loveliness, I read a lot into them. Symbolically, they represent ghosts to me...the weaving of memories and love.

I don't have any of my own artwork hanging up in my home. I don't have an aversion to it, just never took the time to put some up. Well, I ordered a test print of "It's The Same Dream That Lasts All Night", and was really pleased. I framed it in one of my brass frames and just love it...

Another exciting thing is that the writing and tracklisting for the upcoming St. Mary's record is complete! Here are the songs...

Whoot, it's Friday! I have to say, I've been having to readjust my body to Summer's sudden appearance (90 degrees already!!), and then I open the windows this morning and Fall has returned. Ha!

I've got new goodies in the shop...

I'm really in love with this piece. It's not my usual fairy-tale mode, but sometimes I get the urge to just do stylistic pieces...something not necessarily story based. Although, I could totally see this being a crest for a coven of fancy, hot witches! I also wouldn't mind having this tattooed on me.
I was also inspired by this fantastic glass necklace from the lovely Mathyld/Under the Pyramids...

So yeah, these will be the last papercuts for a while. It's time for me to start work on my totes (bags and screens have been ordered!), a few new photoshoots, an exciting collaboration with my favorite collaborative partner (hint, hint!), and time to start recording!!

The weekend of July 23rd, I'll be moving back to Austin, TX!!! Yeah, I'm pretty damn thrilled! It all kind of just came together, and doors opened after years of trying to get back out there. Sure, I'm not in a financially comfortable situation to move right now, but if I kept waiting, when would I ever feel like I truly was? Magic happened, opportunities presented themselves, and I'm going for it babies!!

I will be surrounded by people that I truly love and are so supportive of me. You can't really ask for more than that kittens...

I've returned, recently, from a trip to Austin! Such amazing, lovely times I have there. It was the SXSW music festival and my besty's birthday! I was also excited because it was an excuse to finally try out my new Pentax K100...

And like I previously stated, SXSW was going on while I was in town. Two of my absolute favorite bands were playing: Veronica Falls and Still Corners...

They were completely magical live. Dreamy but with an edge that I appreciated. They are also the sweetest people, which is just lovely. They just got signed to Sub Pop and will release their debut full-length this year!

We saw Veronica Falls at an instore at my favorite record shop, End of an Ear. They are fantastic live and couldn't have asked for a better show. I got to meet them, have a song dedicated to me, and Marion (the bassist) knew my blog! Ultimate fan timez! They just completed their first full-length so look out for that.

And finally, at SXSW, always keep your eyes peeled. You never know when you might bump into one of your musical heros...

See, what a wonderful time! I have to mention that I got to meet the sweetheart that is Abby Powell/Abby Try Again! We had a fantastic brunch at Blue Dahlia (I had a giant parfait of berries, yogurt, and granola) and traded prints. I'm looking forward to spending
lots more fun time with this lady!! Oh, we did take a photo together, but it was one of the few that I managed to screw up. Of course.

I hope everyone has been well...

I had a "snow day" from work today (without any actual snow-just lots of ice), so it's time to catch up!

I've been keeping myself busy making some new things for the shop. First, here are a couple of new prints...

"Pull The Strings" was inpsired by the film, "Black Swan", and "Lay Down Your Dreams..." was inspired by one of my all time favorites, "Valerie and Her Week of Wonders".

Also new in the shop, are a 4 piece set of handcut constellations...

I have a few other things in the works. Namely, a set of letterpress cards, another collaboration with one of my favorite artists, and a line of tote bags. I also picked up this little cutie for some new photo shoots...

An awesome find...A Pentax K100 I found on eBay for $50! Yay!

I have a few tidbits to share about the upcoming St. Mary's album, "In Dreams". So far, six songs have been written as well as four instrumentals/sound collages. Two covers will be on the album, Piano Magic's "It's the Same Dream That Lasts All Night" and Broadcast's "Valerie". The cover art has been chosen. The amazing photographer, and sweetheart, Alison Scarpulla, has graciously provided this photo for the cover...

We're shooting for a late Fall/early Winter 2011 release. Our goal is to release this as vinyl only with download code. Perhaps a Kickstarter campain is in order ;)

I really don't know of an eloquent way to start this post. Words really do fail me in regards to this...

Trish Keenan, of the band, Broadcast, passed away, Friday morning, January 14, 2011. She was only 42.

Anyone who follows my blog, or knows a bit about me, knows that Broadcast is one of my most favorite bands. Needless to say, Trish's death hit me hard. I did not know her personally, but the music she has left behind hugely influenced me. There are numerous touching memorials to Trish online, so I won't babble about. All I will say, is that Broadcast and Trish were a gateway for me to discover all sorts of beauty and inspiration. Things like "Valerie and her Week of Wonders", Jonathan Miller's "Alice in Wonderland", British television shows like "Children of the Stones" and "The Owl Service". Not to mention the gloriousness that is Library Music and the Hauntology genre.

I'll miss you greatly Trish...

Holly, Ivy, Evergreens...

Hello kittens!

First off, I'd like to wish everyone a very happy Winter Solstice!!

I wish you all nothing but the best wishes, and lots of love.

A wee side note, thanks to my besty's boyfriend, I took my first successful photo of the moon!

I've started my own little Holiday vacation this past weekend. My best friend, and her fantastic boyfriend, spent the weekend with me. We had a lovely time, and this was the first Holiday we've spent together. We exchanged gifts (which I'll share with you all next time), had loads of great food/drink, and even went on a small road trip to Houston for a bit of shopping. I was behaved and didn't go all shopping crazy. I found a great Henry Darger book, a couple of really lovely cardigans, and a gray faux fur scarf. I also got to wear my new coat out and about...

I got lots of compliments on it! Especially from boys ;) Hahaha! Which is something that never happens here.
Most importantly, my friends and I just loved being in each other's hilarious company. I couldn't ask for a better best friend/sister!

Speaking of vacation, my shop is closed until December 27th. Before closing the shop, I added lots of new prints...

Besides having my friend's over, I've been watching my favorite Christmas stop-motion programs. As a kid I love them all, with this one (and this song) being my favorite...

I sure did love the Melodrama good lawd!

And just for reference, this was my favorite (non Holiday) cartoon as a wee one. It's an anime version of The Little Mermaid, which followed the original story (not Disney's). I would listen to the song below, over and over, and cry my little gay eyes out...

I have a new print in my shop...

I've also created a Holiday card for my friends. I used to make one every year, but haven't the past few years. I made this simple papercut, that I think is sweet...

I'm working on one more papercut, that will be available soon. Bats, a skeleton, and a baby carriage!

Work on the last St. Mary's record is going steadily, well the writing anyway. I'm very excited to get to a point of being able to share. I have loads of ideas for the artwork, and am very excited about that! I really just hope to make something really special as I close the book on this particular part of my musical history.

The actual recording will begin early next year. It will be worked on along with my new book!! Ooooo boy. I also have a secret project, that's in the works right now. If I've emailed you, then you know what it's about. I'm super super excited about that one :)

I had been wanting to have a stamp made for packages and correspondence. The last time I had one made (years ago), they were pretty pricey. But I did some research and got this one made for $11!

I've never considered myself particularly stylish. I tend to go for plainer clothes, and I'll only wear certain colors. Mainly because I don't think many colors look good on me. That's why I've not posted very many (if any?) "What I Wore/What I'm Wearing" type photos. But because of a fantastic cowl arriving, that the severly divine Tara-Lynn of Yarnovermovement made
, and a wonderful surprise tote from Anabela of Fieldguided, I thought I'd take a couple...

Halloween weekend is upon us kittens!

I had mentioned in my last post, that my brother and I had taken some photos to get into the Halloween spirit. Here are the results!

I'm super happy with these three! Taken on my old Minolta, with Fuji 35mm film. I had to do a bit of coloration work, due to the lighting being really "hot" on some of them.

I also have a new photo set, "Alice" and "White Rabbit". Not sure if these will be for sale yet, but I think they came out just lovely...

I've also been working on two new papercuts. I'm hoping to have these done by the end of the weekend.

I did a bit of thrifting this past Wednesday, and picked up some nice finds! I've started collecting old brass frames, and found a whole batch for .15¢! I also found this little papermache skull. I'll probably paint him up over the weekend as well.

My lovely friend, Marissa Nadler, has started a Kickstarter project to help fund the recording of her new album. She made this beautiful (and funny) video about it...

It's Calling For Me Through The Trees...

Happy Friday kittens!

Why have I been in pretty much a perpetual happy mood, well this could have something to do with it...

This wonderous Fall weather has produced some truly wonderful foggy mornings. There is nothing that stirs my imagination so consistantly than thick, ground hovering fog.

I'm also pretty happy with how those photos came out! I popped my head outside to see what the temp was, for dressing purposes. Saw the fog, and grabbed my camera. I'm sure the neighbors loved it, as I was in my bathrobe and wellies!

I spent the past weekend with my brother, and we had a grand time! I hate cooking for myself, but enjoy cooking for others. So lots of food, movies, and laughing were had. He helped out in a total feral witch of the fields photoshoot! What a sport. I'm waiting for the prints to come back so I can share them with everyone.

I'm so glad that the weekend is just peeking around the corner. I have fun times planned and am ready!

Sincere thanks to everyone who entered! I love all of your Halloween stories! Out of fair play, I think it's only right that I share one. I was obsessed with Star Wars, and especially, Yoda. When I was five, I had wore one of those plastic mask/outfit combo deals of Yoda for that Halloween. And because Yoda did not wear blue jeans or Garanimals polo tops, I refused to wear any clothes under my costume. Well, of course, after getting down at the first house, my fat ass split the costume. All the way up the back, ass to neck honey! Much to my parent's dismay, I refused to go home and put on clothes and proceeded to trick 'r treat the rest of the evening in a split Yoda costume and a pair of Under-roos.

I wanted to share my two new silhouette doll sets today, but due to bad lighting situations, no photos were taken. Boo to that! Hopefully some nice photos can be taken this weekend.

In the meantime, here's my newest print that has been recently added to the shop...

Contest Time My Loves...

Hello kittens...

Wow, I seriously have been in the best mood, as of late. We've been graced with 54 degree weather at night and in the early mornings! The days are mild (for Louisiana) at 80 degrees. I've always been seriously affected by weather, and this sudden explosion of Fall is just the best.

First off, I'm going to be having a wee contest!!

Up for grabs are 8"x12" pro-prints of my wee series of 35mm photos. (You'll notice they look a bit different from my last post. I was not totally thrilled with them, and have done a bit of color correction.)

I finally found a rug that I just love!

I got it for super cheap, from JCPenny of all places. I definitely am not a retail snob honey ;) I think the scroll/floral work on the black is super fancy.

I've been eyeing the brooms from Etsy seller, Broomchick, forever. I finally got one!

I have it hanging above my front door, as is customary to ward off negative energy in one's home. I also think it's just really lovely to look at.

I also embroidered some tea towels! I used to embroider a lot. I rarely get to anymore, but still really enjoy it...

I finally made my first successful french knot!

I still have lots more projects I want to tackle with the house. Painting (I finally painted the bathroom a muted white and love it! I think I'll paint the whole house that color), changing out the flooring, changing light fixtures, etc. etc.

Well, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend...I have tomorrow off due to my best friend, Tracy, and her boyfriend, Christian, coming down from Austin. They'll be staying the weekend with me, and I'm so excited.

I've purchased some lovely clothing items in my new favorite shade, midnight blue...

The velvet blazer is from France, and an Ebay find. The angora cable knit sweater is also an Ebay find. The plaid shirt is by Brooklyn Tailors, and I seriously can not stress how much I love this shirt. I would live in it constantly if I could. The cravat is from Elegantascot, and it's so very lovely.

I just received the new Antony & the Johnsons book + cd, "Swanlights" and it is a thing of beauty. This is my favorite song so far...

I've also been listening to The Cure's "Disintegration" (I just picked it up on vinyl). It has so many of my favorite songs of theirs on it. Including my all time favorite...

Well, I have lots of projects to work on, including a new headpiece inspired by some of Amy Earles drawings :)

I Will Not Be Afraid...

Happy Friday sweets...

I hope everyone is well and lovely!

First off all, I have two new papercut prints in the shop.

"This Is Your Only Chance For Escape"

"I Will Not Be Afraid"

I had Mombi from "Return to Oz" on the brain for "This Is Your...". And "I Will Not Be Afraid" is, in my opinion, my most overt fairy tale piece. It's really a mantra for myself more than anything! I have always been a nester, and my home is definitely a sacred place; a refuge from all scary things.

I have been snapping photos with my old Minolta 35mm camera. Mostly of my property; the trees, storm clouds, the fields. I can't wait to get those developed! A few nights ago, I saw a huge horned owl swoop down and land in my oak tree, in the front yard. The owl was massive, and was scanning the fields for mice...go owl, go!

I still have a few projects left. Mainly painting the bathroom (which I'll do this weekend), and changing out some light fixtures. I've been enjoying cooking dinnner, reading, and watching movies. I am utterly boring my friends :)

I am also slowly decorating the house for Halloween!! My favorite holiday. I have an antique paper skeleton that I've hung up, and will make some silhouettes to put in the windows. Then, of course, lots of pumpkin carving. At the same time, I figured I'd get a jump on Holiday gifts, and have been crafting away. Years ago I made a Holiday card to send to all my friends. I haven't made one in a while, so I'm working on a papercut to Gocco for my Holiday cards! So excited about those.

I'm slowly still writing for the final St. Mary's record. Not sure if I've mentioned that, but yeah, this one will be the last one. I will take my time with it, and hopefully make the best one yet. After the last note has been recording, and I lay music making to rest, I'll start on my most ambitious project yet (ooooooh boy!!).

Anywhoo, just a little FYI...If anyone, at anytime, spied on me through my window, they'd probably see me dancing to this in my living room...

Sea Talk...

Hello kittens...

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm very excited because of an extended Labor Day weekend! I have lots of fun things planned. Dinner with my Mom and Aunt, thrifting about for brass frames and milk glass, working on papercuts, and just relaxing, listening to records.

Speaking of records, I am so in love with the song, "Sea Talk" by Zola Jesus. Here is the video for it...very Poltergiest!

Now that Fall is slowly approaching, I'm back to listening to The Horrors, "Primary Colours". Simply an amazing record...

Which in turn inspired me to break out this goodie...

Anywhoo, I've been looking about for background fabric for photos! It's about time I took some new pictures. I found a couple of yards of something really lovely, so I'm quite excited. I've also been on the hunt for a nice chandelier for my living room. After looking at hundreds, I've realized there are some truly hideous ones out there. I found this one, and think it's a winner...

Not too sure about the shade color, as I may change it to black ones (surprise, surprise). We shall see...

Home Sweet Home...

Hello sweets...

Wowwie, it's been quite a crazy month so far!

First of all, as I'm sure some of you know, I broke my toe. I can honestly say...OUCH! I was running around, getting ready for work, and broke it on the edge of a bed. I heard a loud crack and my toe was definitely not in the direction it should be facing. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do for a broken toe. So I've been hobbling around with the toes taped up. It surely put a damper on the next big thing that has happened this month...

I finally moved into my new home!!! What can I say about that. Well, I am loving living alone, and forgot how good it feels to have one's own space. It's a wee house. 444 sq feet to be exact, but cozy and just the right size for me. Because of the toe, I have not been able to paint. Standing on my foot for a long period of time is just out of the question. Thankfully, the color of the walls are not offensive. The bathroom will, eventually, be painted a muted white, while the bedrooms will be a light muted green. The living room/kitchen will be the same green, but two shades darker. I did tough it up and decorate because having loads of boxes around was something I couldn't live with. Here's a few photos of some vignettes in my house...

Ali also included some of her beautiful prints in the package!

Here is my new bed! I downsized to a twin bed, and splurged on a nice boxspring and mattress. I never realized how uncomfortable my old bed was!

Here's one little area of my bedroom. I have a print from Jason Lee Rhyno hanging by the window.

Jason also did a commission drawing of Valerie from Valerie and her Week of Wonders for me. I'm waiting to find the perfect frame for it.

By the front door, I hung my cuckoo clock and this original drawing by Carolyn Gaedchens. I've been waiting to hang this up for a while.

Above the t.v. armoire, in the living area, I have a print I traded for with Gillian/Miss Quite Contrary. It's right next to my antique owl lamp.

There it is!! I know they don't show a lot, but there will be more photos to come! I'm thrilled to finally be able to hang artwork that I've collected over the years, especially from friends! I have my two Amy Earles orginals hanging in the kitchen, near the sink. If I've got to wash damn dishes, I want to look at something that makes me happy :)

I've done one more trade recently with the wonderful Jess of Blood Milk!! She made me this custom piece featuring a sacred heart, roses, and a rose thorn...

The thorn was originally hanging from the clasp, but I wanted to look at it all the time. I highly recommend her pieces!

The Invoking Of Autumn...

Hello kittens...

Hell yes, I am most definitely invoking Autumn! Moving in the summer is a most unforgiving experience. I'm almost completely moved in! One more weekend, and that should do it. Then all of the fun bits begin...painting, decorating, rearranging. I absolutely can't wait to show you all some photos! I've bought/received so many lovely bits and bobs for the house. Faux white rabbit fur blanket? Check!

Something that has taken my fancy is the website 8tracks! Basically, it's a website where you can upload music and make mixes that others can listen to. Most of you peeps know that I'm an addicted mix cd maker. So this site is just heaven for me. Actually, I'm going to make a new mix a month for the blog. A different theme/genre, and I'll link to the mix here. I've made two for August, around the theme of love...

I'm not completely sure if I'm happy with the tree trunk...I may go and revise that bit (EDIT tree trunk has been revised a wee bit!). In shop news, besides working on new prints, I'm getting rid of some of my older work. Some prints hold absolutely no more excitement for me. If I can't look at a print and still be excited by some aspect of it, it's time to go. I've already removed some work, with maybe more to go.

Just wanted to point you all in the direction of a new papercut print that's in my shop...

"It's The Same Dream That Lasts All Night"

The title comes from a Piano Magic song of the same title. I've loved this song since I've first heard it. It's only 59 seconds, but encapsulates a perfect moment within a memory. Here are the lyrics...

"It's the same dream that lasts all night but I can only keep this: It's Halloween and I'm chasing you round the other kids/on a moonlit lawn in a ghost cape and a skull mask. And you are sometimes and sometimes you are just a shadow."

I happily received permission from Piano Magic leader, Glen Johnson, to record a cover of this song on the upcoming St. Mary's record. Yay!

And in other shop news, I'm working on two new prints that will, hopefully, be in the shop soon!

I will be sparcely online the next two weeks loves...I'll be cleaning and painting my house this weekend, and begin moving items in the next! I can't wait to spend my frist full night :)

Hello kittens!

I hope that this Monday finds everyone well...

It's so damn nice to be able to blog again at work :) I love my job! Being a secretary is actually pretty fun. Very laid back here, since our water utilities office is small. The people I work with are friendly, and since the job is located in my old hometown, I've known most of them since I was a kid!

Now on to some very exciting news to share...

I had mentioned previously that I was in the process of preparing to build my own cottage. I found a contractor and floor plans that I loved...two bedroom, one bath, and an open kitchen/living room. My goal was to start building in October. Well, while on my way to do some grocery shopping, I spotted a for sale sign and a lot of prefab, modular houses. I decided to stop, and found a two bedroom, cottage style modular house, with an open kitchen/living space! Long story a wee bit shorter, $9,000 later, I own my own cottage!!! Since the cottage is small, it will be delivered, via flat-bed truck this Thursday. I can't believe it! I am so excited to be able to make it my own, and have it be my wee dream place.

I've already decided on a colorway for the house...Powder blue, white, navy, and black. My goal is to keep it light and airy without feeling beachy or country. Thankfully I have a strong Victorian streak, so I don't think that'll be a problem :)
Actually I'm taking some of my inspiration from this still from Valerie and Her Week of Wonders...

I do have a bedframe picked picked out, and on it's way! It's the Lillesand bedframe from Ikea...

I'll be sure to take lots of before and after photos. I know it'll be an ongoing process, which is part of the fun, so wish me luck!

I hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing Sunday...

Basically, all weekend I've caught up on reading. My reading habit has been spotty, at best, this past year, but I have been trying to remedy that. I think books are the medium that fire my imagination more than anything else.

And speaking of books, my book of papercut works, "Take My Hand and Follow Me", is finally here!!

The book will be available in my shop Monday, July 19th!

Here are the details:

58 pages, 8"x12" hardcover with dust jacket. The book will have a limited edition of 15 copies that will be signed and come with a 8"x10" print (You can choose your print from the available stock in my Etsy shop. Be sure to list which print you'd like in the "Message to Seller" box). The book will be lovingly packaged with a felt wax seal. After the limited edition is sold out, the book will be available via Blurb (the company that printed my book).

I mentioned before, that on my recent trip to Austin, TX, I purchased some shorts! And, like I mentioned earlier, I have not worn shorts since 6th grade. Mainly because I've always hated my legs! Well, apparently, I got over all that :)

These are navy dress shorts from Zara. Super cheap and super comfy!

Recently, I did a trade with the fantastic Margaux of The Blackspot Books! We traded prints, and here's what I picked...

Her work is so lovely, and Margaux is such a sweet person!

In some exciting music news, the ever radiant Antony of Antony and the Johnsons will have a new release out this October!

I do hope that everyone is well and lovely...

I've returned from a very lovely trip to Austin! I stayed with my wonderful best friend/bandmate, Tracy and her boyfriend, Christian. I also spent time with the ever radiant, ever sweet, Angeliska. She is a treasure indeed.

I picked up a few goodies...classic records on vinyl that I had only on cd. Cocteau Twins "Treasure", Slowdive "Souvlaki", and Joy Division "Unknown Pleasures". I also found the soundtrack to the gorgeous film, "Daisies"! Found a few lovely shirts, and, oh yeah, shorts!! I have literally not worn shorts since 6th grade.

Anyhoo, on to the big news...

My book of collected papercuts, "Take My Hand and Follow Me" is complete!

Here's the deal: For two weeks, I will be taking sign-ups for notification when the book is for sale in my Etsy shop. Email me at monpetitfantome@gmail.com with your name and best email to reach you. I will then email you when the book is available for sale. I'm doing this to guage interest in the book, and to judge how many initial copies to order.

Here are the book details: The book is 8"x12", hardcover, with dust jacket. It is 58 pages, and will come with an 8"x10" print of your choosing (you can choose from the selection currently available in my shop). The book will be signed and come all very lovingly packaged with a felt, wax seal medallion. It will retail for $50 (plus shipping).

I know I've talked about it for a while, and today's the big reveal. Amy Earles and I have been hard at work on a collaborative doll set, and here it is...

Amy created the dolls, and I created the papercut backdrop. The dolls and 8x10 backdrop come housed in a black and silver envelope that I screenprinted with our logo. You can frame the whole set in a shadowbox frame!! We are really proud of this, and hope you all like it. The set is a very limited edition of 50, and Amy and I will each have 25 for sale in our shops this Friday. Yay!! Amy is the best collaborator, and I've enjoyed every second of working on this with her.

I've recently picked up some wonderful goodies while out on an amazing thrifting trip...

Brass owl bell! I didn't think there were variations on brass owl bells, but sure enough, I found a new one. Now I have a collection of two.

Now my wee taxidermied goat, Biscuits, has a new friend...meet Ruby!! Ruby is an antique taxidermied rabbit, and I love her to bits. I melted when I saw her face and just had to have her.

I picked up this beautiful 11x14 swan print on Etsy via Mincingmockingbird's shop!

Oooo! Blue velvet blazer from eBay!! According to the measurements, it should fit me like a glove...let's hope.

Just Before The Dawn...

Hello kittens!

I hope everyone has been lovely.

I have been wrapping up my big projects...getting ready to share with you all the goodies I've been working hard on. I've had the opportunity to relax a bit, which is so nice. I finally watched "Picnic at Hanging Rock"! And yes...it deserves all the praise heaped upon it. Soooo atmospheric! I also watched "Bright Star" which left me an utter mess of tears. Yeah, I totally cry at sad movies, and I'm one of those bitches that is not afraid to cry in front of others while watching said sad movie. That's how I roll boo. "Bright Star" was really beautifully shot too...and the soundtrack was really lovely.

I've got some exciting new my loves...I've got a new job!!! My last day at the hospital will be June 25th. I will be working for the state of Louisiana at one of their Waterworks districts. I'm not gonna go into details, but let's just say the pay is waaaaay better than the hospitals (okay...I'm jumping from single digit an hour to double digit an hour), and all the job entails is office/computer work. Whoot!

Finally, I've been on a Roy Orbison kick as of late. I remember when I discovered him as a teen, I was surprised that THAT voice came out of that man. Before I knew what he looked like, I had envisioned in my mind some dreamy, otherworldly creature. Roy may not have been the most handsome fellow, but his voice and sweetness made him beautiful. Here's three of my favorite Roy Orbison songs...

You Know It's Been A Long, Long Time...

A wee alteration...

After a bit of consideration, looking over the finished design of my book, I've decided to change the title and cover!

"Take My Hand and Follow Me"

The title comes from a line in the John Denver song, "Follow Me" (which I love, and makes me cry every time I hear it). I'm super happy with the revision, and think it fits the theme of the book, and my work, better.

I've been on a movie kick as of late. I picked up dvds of "The Wolfman" and "The Young Victoria".

I really enjoyed both. I also think that The Wolfman benefited from the director's cut. It fleshed out the story way better than the theatrical version. And, Rupert Friend (who played Prince Albert...pictured above), I think I'd like to marry you sir!

I also ordered "Picnic at Hanging Rock".

Having heard so much about it, and not yet seen it, I thought it was about time.

Hello loves!

I do hope that everyone has been well...

I've been enjoying our blooming gardenias and magnolias. Watching the cardinals and swallows...and the horned owls visiting at dusk. Unfortunately I can spend limited time outside because of horrible environmental allergies, and of course it has to be in the shade. I am so not a summer baby.

Well, the good news is that my book, "After You Count Every Star in the Sky", is finished!! The layout has been completed, and it's ready for printing. I really had to restrain myself from going crazy design wise. I wanted something lovely but clean as well. I couldn't go around slapping a damn doily on everything like I do at home ;)

Yes, it's nothing spectacular, but I wanted it very clean looking...no text. The image feels like a mirror to a world you can fall into.

Yay for a three day weekend! I hope everyone has lovely and fun plans for this Easter holiday. I, for one, plan on eating loads of treats and doing some egg hunting. Whoot!

Just a quick post to say that my Etsy shop has reopened. Both shops have finally been set up with the Etsy shop handling all of my papercut print work and the Big Cartel shop handling originals, limited editions, and my music. I think I've settled on a good balance, and yes, all of my illustrations are gone. Bye my wee crying animals!

Hiya kittens...

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. I've got to tell ya, we've had some beautiful weather this weekend! It really makes me sad to go to work tomorrow.

Well, I have a bit of news for you all...

Effective April 3rd, I will closing down my Etsy shop for the foreseeable future. It's nothing against Etsy, it's just that I really don't enjoy making illustrations right now. And quite frankly, I'm tired of looking at my crying animals. My heart and soul is in papercutting, and pushing myself to branch out in that medium. I want to make more intricate papercuts, large-scale ones, and expand on lots of ideas that are brewing in me noggin. I want to thank everyone who had such kind words and were so supportive when I started with Etsy. I will continue to have my Big Cartel shop, so I'll still be out there. So, if anybody wants something from the Etsy shop, I suggest you head there toute suite!

**After an email conversation with a friend, I've decided to keep my Etsy shop open. It will be closed for a bit while I give a facelift!**

I've started working on about six new pieces...for art shows and for collaborations. Keep an eye on my flickr because I'm going to try to photograph my process along the way. Not too exciting, but I thought it would be fun to document.

I have been lusting after some clothes lately. I've been really into the idea of a really lovely, tailored suit, and I was blown away by the clothing of Brooklyn Tailors...

Their suits are a bit on the pricey side, but hell, for a HANDMADE suit, I think it's a very decent price. Ooooo...if I could get one in black velvet!!

And wingtips! My Mom made me wear a pair way back in the day, and I hated them, but now I really want a pair...

These are nice...no chunky sole (which is a must for me), and fancy but simple. If anyone is wondering (probably not) I pretty much live in these Kenneth Cole boots...

I've been lusting after this band lately as well...

I'm super into their sparce, atmospheric pop sound they have going. And bass player/vocalist, Oliver Sim is a very handsome fellow :)

Also perking up my ears are The Sight Below. Virtually a solo project, The Sight Below will be releasing the record, "It All Falls Apart" in April...

I love the cover photograph. Check out this webpage with some samples from the record. I especially love the song, "Fervent".

And of course, my beloved Veronica Falls. I don't know why, but I just can't get enough!! They will have a video released soon for the song, "Found Love in a Graveyard" directed by Nick Abrahams, who has directed films for Sigur Ros.

Yes, spring is just around the corner, and I am quite excited. Don't get me wrong, I love winter, but this year we've had so much damn rain with the cold. I'm ready to go outside and piddle in the yard...maybe plant some flowers.

Wowwie...it's been over a month since I last posted. Sugar foots and bee stingers, that's been a long time...

Well let's jump into shall we?

Firstly, after a delay of over a month, the new St. Mary's ep, "Songs For Your Lost Children" will be released this month. I'm super super happy with it, and hope you all love it. It will be for sale at my Big Cartel shop, and I'll be sure to post when it's available. I also really like the packaging and think some of the design aspects will carry over to the next one.

I've finished two new papercut prints for the shop! Have a lookie...

I've also added a limited edition, screenprinted banner...

The banners are not skimpy, coming in at a little over 91" long. They will not be something that regularly in the shop, so grab one if you likey :)

And speaking of artworks, lately, I've just not been into doing illustrations. Quite frankly, I'm just not feeling my drawings at all. So instead of pressuring myself to draw more pieces for the Etsy shop, I'm just not going to be making new illustrations for the forseeable future. I know all artists go through this, but my drawings just don't excite me like my papercuts do. I will not completely close the Etsy shop (not yet anyway), but trust me when I say nothing will be added for a long while. This does change some things in regards to my book. Now, the book will be completely done in papercut. This idea really excites me, and has spurred an idea for an extra goodie to include with the book!! So, the book is still on, but just a bit different.

I'm sure most of my dearies have seen this wonderment on my Flickr page, but I just have to share it here...

It's an Astro Star Lamp!!! This is, seriously, one of the best things I've ever bought. So dreamy and magical. I, especially, love that you have to put the entire thing together yourself. I knocked it out in about a hour and a half.

I also purchased myself a print from the wonderful Alison Scarpulla...

The sweet Tara of SWANclothing and I did a trade...

I sent her some of my swan illustrations and papercuts and she sent me these fantastic swan sock garters! I can't wait to wear them.

This weekend, I had a wee fun photoshoot. I recently bought a tripod and remote for my Nikon, and these are the results...

Ooooo! I also bought an iphone!!! Hot damn, I am in love. I've had the same janky ass Nokia flipphone for years. It didn't close all the way, wouldn't let me set up a voicemail, and dropped calls all the time. In other words, I deserved an iphone ;)

Hello kittens!

I hope everyone is well. I have been sickly the last few days, but am having a window of wellness, so time to blog :)

The big news is that I have a new shop!!

Here you'll find my papercut prints, framed silhouettes, and limited edition pieces.

My Etsy shop will now concentrate on my drawn illustrations. I'm quite excited about this because I feel I was keeping myself boxed in, in regards to my drawings. And now I feel freed up a bit.

I'm working on drawings for the shop now! Work is still happening on my children's book which is now titled, "Lost". It's a simple story about a girl named Lost.

I'm also getting geared up for the release of my new record, "Songs For Your Lost Children". Here's one of the wee lullabies for your enjoyment...

I hope the week has begun on a lovely start for you all. I'm trying to get back into the swing of blogging after such a long break. I'm going to at least post once a week!

Hello kittens!

I do hope that everyone has been lovely and well. I've had an exhausting first week at my new job, and it's now time to get back in the swing of things.

I'm getting very excited for the upcoming Holidays, and have finally finished all of my Holiday shopping. I always try to finish up a bit early, because I would rather have needles shot in my eyes than to go out amongst the crowds close to Christmas. I hope my lovelies that I've sent wee goodies to have received them :)

One goodie that I've got for myself is "The Book of Lost Things"

I picked this up thanks to the recommendation of Mr. Daniel-Halifax and can't wait to delve into this book.

Broadcast have released a new video from their album with the Focus Group. It's fantastic!!!

Also, next year, sees the release of a solo record from Sigur Ros' frontman, Jonsi! Take a look at this promo photo...

Snow!

Hello lovies!

I don't usually post on weekends, but since I'm all comfy, warm, and snuggled in with a coffee, I figured why not :)

So anyway...yes dears, yesterday it snowed in Louisiana!!! We rarely get snow, and this one was such a lovely sight...

It wasn't enough for a ground covering, but still beautiful nonetheless!

I've also updated the shop with two new prints...

I wasn't going to update the shop until the new year, but couldn't help it ;)

I've begun writing bits for my children's book! I'm flooded with ideas and scenarios, thankfully :) Lots and lots of details to consider and all very exciting. I've also started writing the pieces of music that will accompany the book.

In St. Mary's news, the January 26th release date for "Songs For Your Lost Children" is still on track. The packaging is complete, and came out really well. The next St. Mary's record won't come out for a while, but writing little bits and pieces has begun, as well as the title for the record, "Black Mirror".

Also, all of you lovies need to keep your eye on Design For Mankind Tuesday, December 8th. That's all I'm saying ;)

Here's some new goodies that I'd like to share...

I bought this Caitlin Shearer shirt a little while back, and finally snapped a photo of it. It's a fantastic shirt...great quality. I love the image!

I received the newest Amy Earles paperdoll set titled, "November & December". Amy also has those lovely handcut trees in her shop! When the package arrived I quickly put the dolls together and framed it all up. Soooo lovely!

Every Holiday season I go crazy with these wee flocked bottlebrush trees!! I think they are so adorable. And pretty soon I'll have a whole forest :)

A couple of weeks ago I finished re-reading "His Dark Materials" and am now reading my favorite Hans Christian Andersen anthology

It is so beautiful to look at as well read.

I've also been enthralled by these three films...

Two new papercut prints, and an, unseen, illustration (all I'll say is swans)! This will be my last update of the year, so I hope you all enjoy them.

My niece, Hannah, received her first haircut. Her Mom was nice enough to save a bit of her hair for me...

I placed it in a locket on my desk...so sweet. I'll be hanging out with Hannah all weekend. What is our new favorite show to watch? The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack!

I've been pretty busy as of late...Working on a couple of new prints (a papercut and an illustration) that will be in the shop Monday, November 16. Tracy is finishing up her contributions to "Songs For Your Lost Children", which has a release date of January 26th!! Yay!! I'm writing new songs, which will be part of the soundtrack to my children's book. I'm taking December off ;) and will begin writing the book in January. I've already begun outlining it and making sketches for it.

Remember in a previous post I mentioned that a very sweet lady got a tattoo, combining my prints, "Take Me With You" and "I Do Not Know Where We Are Going..."? Well, here it is...

I think it came out very nice, and it's still so surreal that someone is walking around with my artwork on their arm!

I've picked up (and made) a few goodies lately...

A paper mache mask that I painted up for Halloween! It has a black satin ribbon tie, and I keep it on the side of my bed.

A brass owl box that has a little secret inside!

A lovely rabbit paperweight made from black glass!

You Seem More Beautiful Than Yesterday...

Kittens!

Hello loves. I hope everyone has been well. I've finally caught up on my rest, and am back in blogging shape again.

Lots of fun little things to share, but first the biggest news:

I'm leaving Louisiana! I'll be moving back to Austin, TX in June/July of next year. There is no exact date set, as of yet, but basically six months from now. My job has dropped me from 40 hrs. a week to 32 starting in December. Then six months from then, I'll be dropped to 27. The pay/hours drop added with icky things starting to take shape at work has caused me to make a life change lovelies! I admit, I am not that great with change. But this time around, I'm truly excited...not scared one bit. Really more anxious to get the show on the road, and to be close to all of my amazing sweethearts. So yay, I'm Austin bound my loves!!

So, I returned home, this past Sunday, from Austin. My friend's, James and Sarah, got married, and I celebrated Halloween! First the wedding...

The decor was so lovely. Casual, whimsical, yet very pulled together. Plus their wedding cake was a tower of cupcakes! Yay!

We danced far into the night, and had a fantastic time. They had really great music, and their first dance was truly touching and sweet. It got me thinking what song would I want to dance to at my wedding...

I also had the most fantastic Halloween! During the weekend, we went to see Zombieland (yay!) at the Alamo Drafthouse to get us in the mood. It was there that Tracy, Christian, and I decided to add a zombie touch to our costumes. We went to have an amazing dinner/drinks at Eastside Showroom. Mmmmm...pumpkin creme brule and pinot noir!!! We met up with my darling Angel, her man Colin, and Frannie. We had the best time, as always, when my Angel is involved :) Afterwards, Tracy, Christian, and I went to the Scoot Inn, and danced our asses off to old school garage, go-go, sci-fi, and spooky music classics! Hellz yeah baby. Now...I forgot to bring my camera, but luckily Angel and Christian snapped a few photos. Too bad you can't see the extreamly fitted, high-waisted pencil skirt, black tights, and 5 1/2" heeled victorian boots!

Into The Cold Grey Skies, I Take Flight...

Hello Darlins!

I hope everyone is having a good week thus far. I have grey skies to accompany this blustery, chilly day! Yes, grey skies make me happy.

I just finished sending off my latest batch of orders and am getting ready to fly back out to Austin tomorrow. I'm so excited...HALLOWEEN! I can't wait to see my friends, relax, and have a grand time. I'm also excited that I'll finally get my camera fixed. I've missed having it so much. So that means lots of photo taking this week :)

Here's some fun news...Someone Etsy convo'ed me to let me know that they had some of my artwork tattooed on them!!! Oh my!! I asked her for a photo, so when that arrives, I'll share it. I really can't think of any higher compliment than having your artwork on someone's body forever. I'm pretty humbled and feeling slightly surreal about it all!

I've recently bought the dvd "Masters of Russain Animation Vol.II" and love it! Here' are two of my favorites from it...

The new St. Mary's record is right on track for a January release. I'm also going to have "Hear Those Voices Call..." pressed with a fancy looking cd. Yay! I'm also starting to write new songs and am gearing up to write the soundtrack to my children's book! Which, by the by, I've found a place to print it!!! The excitement...

Magical Sights, Sounds, & Smells...

My babies!

Hello loves. I do hope everyone is doing well today. I am getting back into the swing of things since getting back from Austin. I had the most magical time...but more on that later.

I am currently working on a new secret surprise print as a Holiday gift for my friends. It won't be in the shop...sorry, and actually, I'm pretty much done with making new pieces for the year. I have lots to keep me busy though...I'm busy getting the record ready for release! My bandmate is finishing up some bits for it, I've got all of the artwork ready, and am excited to have it out. It will be released in late January and is now called, "Songs For Your Lost Children".

The big news is what I'll be working on next year. A book! Yes kittens, a book. I'm outlining the story now, and will work on writing and illustrating it next year. It will be a children's book, with an original story and all new illustrations. Some will be drawings, some papercuts. There will also be an instrumental soundtrack for it! This really is a dream of mine, and hope to make it a real thing of beauty.

Anyhoo...on to my Austin trip!

Oh yeah a little preface. There will be no photos from my Austin trip. Why? Well, the Continental baggage folks decided to fml and bust up my Nikon D60 real good. Thanks guys! No worries though...my besty's boyfriend is a camera wiz, and is going to help me find the replacement bits I need.

I love Austin, TX...I used to live there. When I move again, which is inevitable, I will return to Austin. My closest friends live there...

*Stayed with my bandmate/best friend, Tracy. She really is like my sister. I got to meet her boyfriend, Christian, who is an amazing guy. We all played music together, and Christian made some fantastic eats. He's half Italian, and can cook like nobody's buisness.

*Saw Hope Sandoval perform at the Texas Union Theater...

I went to the show with Tracy, Christian, my darling sister, Angeliska and her beau, Colin. Hope was perfection. Magical and gracious...it was like falling into a dream, and wanting to be there forever. I'm so happy I got to share the evening with my dearest friends.

*I got to meet Katy Horan! She's soooo sweet and nice. I love Katy's work and you should definitely check it out.

So, Austin was fantasic. I'll be going back for Halloween weekend as well. My camera will be fixed and I promise to take photos!

I got to see "Where the Wild Things Are" before my trip. It was fantastic!! I cried a little and cheered a lot. It was well worth the wait. I've also picked up some new lovely scents...

Cedarwood Tea and Winter 1972 by CB I Hate Perfume. I can't recommend these highly enough. Do yourself a favor, and pick up some of his sample scents. Try them...I promise you'll love them.

Finally...Beach House has a new record coming out in January!! It's called "Teen Dream", and here's a new song from it called, "Lover of Mine". Enjoy!!

There's A Blue Light...

My babies!!!

I've missed you all so.

First off, thank you, my loves, for your sweet, kind words of wellbeing. I'm finally well again, and have said bye-bye to the ear/throat infection that bloomed into the damn flu! Boo flu!

I have a lot of work to catch up on, and also lots to share, but today let's talk about blue...the color that is.

I have dark hair, pale skin, and blue eyes...my Mother insisted on dressing me in blue for years. I developed an intense dislike of blue in my late teens/early twenties. Well lovies...the hate is gone :) I am sooooooo loving blue now! I'm pretty ruthless/merciless when it comes to wardrobe weeding. Especially when fall/winter rolls around and I take stock of my winter wears. I give away anything that doesn't fall into my mentally affixed notion of my new "colors". So, goodbye greens, so long yellow, and hello blue! My winter colors will be black, grey, white, and blue. It really all started with this lovely from J.Crew...

It's a deconstructed henley, in a beautiful slub knit and silk. The color is called "shadow" and is a lovely midnight blue.

I just can't get enough...navy, midnight, and baby blues are my current faves. Also look at this new dress from Built By Wendy...

The perfect dress, in the perfect color. Ladies...one of you has to purchase this, so I can fly over, and fawn over it in person ;)

Anyhoo, I'm glad to be back all healthy, and can't wait to start sharing some exciting news.

In the meantime, I have been on a serious Mazzy Star kick since my Hope Sandoval tickets arrived! It's coming up so sooon :)

My oh my...I'm just back from the doctor. I have one hell of an ear infection due to sinus/allergy mess. Blah. Everytime I blow my nose or sneeze, my ear pounds a terrible pound. So I got a shot, a script of meds, and am on my way to feeling better (hopefully).

See This Child Twice Stolen From Me...

I know I'm a day late but...

Happy Mabon/Autumn Equinox!!

I celebrated by having a glass of yummy red wine and burying a pomegranate and cloves in the backyard. Fall is officially here (although it doesn't feel like it today)!

A most wonderous package arrived from my homie Jessica/Miniature Rhino yesterday...

An embroidered Capricorn constellation! Jessica also surprised me with one her wonderful encaustic blocks and some pins from her recent trip to St. Mary's!! Jessica's attention to detail is barre none, plus, she's just a great friend all around. Thanks sweets :) Oh yeah...Jessica and her lovely boy, Jeremy, made me some hella terrific mix cds! I do love mix cds (Thanks Jeremy)!

Speaking of mix cds...I'm planning on starting something special here on my blog. Since I love to post about music, and because music is such a huge part of my life, I'm going to start a downloadable blog mix! The first week of every month, I'll make a mix that you can download for one week only. It will be a zip file you can then burn to your hearts content. I have a pro Yousendit account (it's how my bandmate and I send tracks to one another), so why not use it :) Not sure when I'll start this, but I'll be sure to let you all know.

I have a photo shoot this weekend, and created a new little head piece to wear...

It's a taxidermied fox mask with feather! Ooooooo wowwie :) The themes for this photoshoot are princes and wolves. We shall see how it goes!

I'm in the new issue of Small magazine! I would have not known if it was not for the lovely Mathyld. Small featured some papercut art, and included "Hush Little Baby"...

In other Mon Petit Fantome news, I am slowly beginning work on a new project. There will be another limited edition MPF book! It will focus on my silhouettes. I will also write a one page story for each piece. I'm quite excited about this, and am slowly working out the details. It will not be out until early next year, but I guess it will something to look forward too!

I've recently discovered the artwork of Isabelle Arsenault.

Isabelle's work is completely magical. A little spooky and eerie, but really touching and beautiful. The two illustrations above are from the book, "Mr. Gauguin's Heart". Isabelle has also illustrated a volume of Emily Dickinson's poetry titled, "My Letter to the World".

And speaking of wonderful illustrations, I received an order from my dear Amy Earles/Wool & Water!

Amy's wonderful print, "Shy Storm Clouds" and her new paperdoll, "Aurelia"! Seriously, the quality of Amy's prints are AMAZING and if you haven't experienced the fun of putting together one of Amy's dolls...well, you're missing out!

A new goodie from Alyssa/Brooklynrehab arrived!

Finally...

One of my all-time favorite bands is Low. I haven't listened to them in quite a while, but their music is so beautiful to me...

It still amazes me that the man who produced Low's first few records (and discovered/produced Galaxie 500), Kramer, mastered my first two records. What a small world...I'll be doing a photo shoot for St. Mary's this upcoming weekend! Yay! Time for some fancy dress-up fun. St. Mary's also has a new member! His name is Brandon Pittman and he's fantastic. He'll appear on the upcoming record, "Arias"...he's a noise/melody making machine :) By the by, the record is all done! Hoping to have it out by December/January...

Time to share some goodies...

I ordered a fantastic black gingham tie from the wonderful Fieldguided/Anabela!

Anabela embroiders the tags on her ties, and on a beautiful bowtie she had previously gifted me, she put "fantome" on the tag. So I felt it only right that this one had "ghost"! And speaking of gifting, Anabela included the lovely doilies you see and that great ghosty apple. Thanks sweets :)

"Little Drops" is the title, and it is really vibrant and so sweet in person. Lou is a sweetheart and her work is so magical...xo Lou!

I also picked up two prints from Lizzy Stewart!

I requested these from Lizzy and she was just too ace and printed them up for me. I can't wait to frame them up!

I started saving a bit, since this Spring, for a new Winter coat. I haven't bought a new, nice wool coat in a while, and my old peacoat had seen better days. I had my eye on this J.Crew one...

And while I love it, it was missing some details that I wanted. Like button cuffs, and the ability to button all the way up. The exaggerated lapel kinda bugged me too. So I kept looking and found this...

Yay! Button cuffs, smaller collar, and it buttons all the way up! Oh yeah...it's Gap, and half the price of the J.Crew one. I know a black peacoat is not exciting, but I'm just so tickled with this coat.

I know this has probably has been blogged to death, but the new issue of Lula magazine is out!!

I love the cover model, Karen Elson, and can't wait to pour over the pages. I subscribe, so I've been checking my mailbox everyday. Check out Lula's website for other neat goodies, like little short films, and an interview with Hope Sandoval!! Speaking of Hope Sandoval, looks like I'll get to see her perform October 18th in Austin...swoon and die.

Good morning kittens...

I hope everyone is having a great day. I am! Why? One word...Fall!!
Full-blown Fall is just around the corner my loves. In the mornings, we are having a temp of around 66 degrees and our highs are around 88 degrees. Yay! My mood instantly takes an upturn when Fall arrives. The smell of burning leaves, the crisp mornings, the beautiful colors...it's like Mother Nature shoved a Prozac right up my ass! Lolz.

I'm sketching out an idea for another print now...I guess since work on the record is nearing completion, I'm ready to tackle new pieces.

Speaking of prints, I'm thinking about changing my printing setup. I'm very curious what do my fellow printmakers use? An all in one? Seperate scanner and printer? What brands do you like? The sweetest package arrived last week...

A bunch of goodies from my newest pen-pal/trading buddy/friend, Miss Caitlin Shearer! I know a lot of you know Caitlin's work...She's so amazing and such a lovely gal. She included a mix cd, that displayed her great taste in music, which all my peeps have ;)

I was also awarded this by the always lovely Lady Lavona...

Finally, I pretty thrilled because October 3rd I'll be seeing one of my absolute favorite bands, Beach House, play in Austin. Yay!

Hello kittens!

This is just a wee post as I'm fairly busy today, but I wanted to share this with you.

I promised to give sneaky peeks of songs on the new St. Mary's record, and here's one for you all!

This is a demo (meaning it's not mastered yet and will be tinkered a bit with. it does include my bandmate, tracy's vocals) of the second song on "Arias" titled, "The Woods". This song is the closest to the music on my other two records, with the exception that you can actually hear my vocals and understand what I'm singing :)

Sketches, Goodies, & Little Sisters...

Hello lovies!

Is it fall yet? I know I'm being a whiney bitch about this, but I HATE summer! I feel like I'm going to get heatstroke everytime I go outside. Blah...

I'm also ready for fall to get here for this...

I know...everyone and their Mom is excited for the Where the Wild Things Are movie, but can I just say, "WhoooHoooo!". This really looks amazing, and I can't wait to see it.

I've promised to share more pieces from my wee sketchbook, so here are a few I've banged out this past weekend. I'm trying to do exercises that I did when I went to artschool. Blind line drawings (the cuckoo clock) and such...

Sketching has definitely brought about a flood of new ideas for papercut pieces, which I'm working on now! I'm also sending the record off, this upcoming Monday, to Austin. I'm so excited to hear the results of the choir on the record. I know I keep teasing about it, but I'm really proud of this record.

Amy Earles drew this amazing piece titled, "Little Sisters of Lost Worlds", for me!!! She drew this for me for collaborating with her on this piece titled, "Wisps", for a show she did at the Halogen gallery...

I ordered a grizzly bear pillow cover from my dear Mathyld's shop, Encore Petite!

The owl cover was given to me in a trade I did with Mathyld, and when I saw it, I knew I had to get a bear one! Mathyld's attention to detail is second to none. She's a true doll...Bisous mon amie!!! Oh yeah...yes, that is my bed :)

Brass Buttons & Costume Decisions...

Hello kittens!

Hope everyone is doing well...

I think by the time August rolls around, I get so excited that Fall is near, I mentally jump over August and September. So, in my mind, it's practically October! Yay...no more heat :) I've already picked up a little something to wear when Fall starts nipping at my heels...

The most adorable gray wool schoolboy blazer!! Brass buttons!! I'm so excited to get this. I'm already planning outfits around it in my mind. And it's not black! Lol.

I'm also thinking ahead to my absolute most favorite holiday, Halloween!! I will be in Austin, TX for Halloween this year, which I'm very excited about. I want to dress up! I'm just not sure what as. Any suggestions lovelies? I don't mind blood and spookiness either, so suggest away! I've been getting in the mood for Halloween with some classics, namely The Omen, Rosemary's Baby, Halloween, and F.F. Copolla's Dracula.

Gary Oldman is my favorite Dracula, by the way. Even though Winona Ryder and Keanu Reaves almost ruined the movie for me.

I've just started keeping a sketchbook! I haven't kept once since college (where we had to). Keeping a sketchbook was just never fun for me. I felt that everything in it had to be as fantastic (to me) and polished as a finished piece. Thankfully my attitude has changed and will share little bits of it with you. And what better place to start than with familiar territory...

I've also finished screenprinting all of the exterior envelopes for St. Mary's "Arias"...

Metallic gold victrola and edition number on moss green button envelope. I'm really loving this color scheme. The gold really shines and is so pretty in person. I will definitely share the packagings progress with you all.

I've also stocked up on postcards and buisness cards from Moo, since I've been out for a little bit...

Moo really are fantastic, and if you haven't tried them, I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I Saw Something...

Hi lovelies!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a fantastic time with my besty bandmate! We had snowcones, enjoyed some outside times, and recorded. The recording went super super well. Musical saw was recorded and all manner of goodies. It will soon be off to Austin, TX to have the ladies choir recorded. Whooohooo! I'll have photos this week of the artwork all silkscreened up.

Other than that, I've been sketching, sketching, sketching, and working on some fun goodie swaps/trades. I hope everyone's week goes fantastically, and I'll leave you with this amazing discovery...Ryan Gosling's band, Dead Man's Bones.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Monday so far. Mine has been pretty busy, but good. Good because I'm having some of my favorite biscuits right now...

Mmmmmmmm.

Here's something exciting that has happened recently...

My framed deer silhouette is featured in the newest issue of "Inside Out". "Inside Out" is an Australian design magazine. Something akin to what "Domino" was. It's a lovely magazine, and I'm really happy to be in it. Everyone I worked with was so so kind and sweet.

My besty/bandmate, Tracy will be here Wednesday!! I'm so excited. Tracy and I always have the best time together. We will be finishing the record up, as well as partaking in some of these funtimes/things: swimming, riding bikes, snowcones, cherry-limeaides, thrifting, seeing "Half-Blood Prince" (she hasn't seen it yet), taking lots of photos, and watching lots of Boosh! We will be taking photos of the recording process, and filming some of it. If it comes out ok, I may post some of the videos here! We'll also be working on some of the packaging for the record too...

These are some of the components for the artwork. Lots of lo-fi, black and white, cut and paste for the inside of the booklet, and gold on green silkscreening. The two lacey designs are the two designs for the cd face that I'm mulling over. Also some folks who have heard some of the songs have said that they remind them of old, classic Disney songs. At first I was not totally pleased with this, but then I remebered this gem that never fails to produce tears in my eyes...

If this is what they mean, then I take it as a huge compliment!!

I've also found some lovely goodies via Etsy and good old out-and-about thrifting...

A hand-carved, hand-painted wooden barn owl, a beautiful English brass owl bell, a super cheapy silver locket (that will be played around with and turned into a brooch), and a wee cauldron!!

Well, I hope you all have a great start to your week. I'm currently sketching for something that could possibly be the most exciting thing yet ;)

I've had the pleasure of having a phone conversation with Lisa, a few years ago for an interview, and can say she is the sweetest, kindest, and most humble person. Her music deeply touches me, and her compassion just makes me love her more!

I have some lovely goodies on their way, and can't wait to share them with you. I also can't wait to show the work I've done on the St. Mary's packaging. I've been silkscreening, and am loving how everything is turning out. Pretty gold, sparkly silkscreened packages :)
